What are the best beers of Britain? I'd have to say my recent favourites have been - Arbor Ales Black Eyed PA , Old Engin...

Re: Calling all Scots!
I've stood on Princes Street (Edinburgh) and its been a bright sunny summers day, yet it was still pouring with rain. I couldn't even work out where the rain clouds were comming from, most odd. Yes, all weathers and as gregorach says sometimes all in the same day.

Re: New to winemaking
Ha, no that wasn't me in disguise! I wrote booze for free as a guide to for a beginner. I added a massive glossary of brewing terms, terms that I've kept to a minimum in Booze for Free. The reason I did this was so that you can use it to understand all the other books out there too. Each recipe I’ve...

Re: Alcohol taste
When you put wine in a demijohn you also put in an airlock and bung it excludes air. Oxidisation occurs when you let air into alcohol, great if you want sherry not so great if you want wine.
Mind you some wines, especially ones brewed to a higher ABV will stay ok tasting for a while longer.
