Re: Sinusitis

I found a home remedy for sinusitis in a book I have:

Take a teaspoon of freshly grated horseradish mixed with lemon juice everyday.

I think it might be kill or cure to be honest, I have yet to try it!

If anyone gives it a go let me know how you get on!

Re: mushroom i.d. anyone?

Thanks for that Mart! Have had a quick look, there seem to be so many that look quite like it though.

Would value an opinion from anyone who might know?

Re: Meh

Good Luck!!! That's the route I'm hoping to take eventually, so gratifying to know that it works. At the moment tho I have to try and get a boring office job first so I'm earning money and then I can start volunteering and work up from there. Job interview tomorrow for me, so another set of fingers ...

Re: So who manages without TV?

We haven't had a tv since we moved here. i miss it occasionally, usually when I'm tired and I just want to sit and do nothing much. I feel like I'm missing out on the more educational side of things which is what I mostly watched anyway: the nature, history, cooking programmes. Unfortunately we have...

fizzing rosehip syrup

Hello, Got a weird query here: I bought a bottle of homemade rosehip syrup at a country fair on sunday, opened it that day and it made a bit of a pop when I unscrewed the bottle, tasted fine tho, today it tastes fizzy so i assume its fermenting. is there anything I can do with it? I don't mind leavi...

Re: So many sloes

Thanks Hedgehogpie! I think that is the only way forward! I also need to try and drag my other half along with me (I'm 5'4'' he's 6'3''!!!) but he's working away a lot at the mo so its tippy toes for me! How early can I start harvesting sloes? I'm getting impatient! (unemployed at the mo and preserv...

Re: So many sloes

There's loads in somerset as well, although a lot seem to be annoyingly inaccessable.

Any tips on how to harvest them from high up in the hedgrows and overhanging the lane?

Marrow recipes anyone?

I've just bought a 3 and a half pound marrow for 20p! and now I'm wondering what to do with it all. I've got a recipe for a chutney (river cottage website) but that won't use the whole thing. I've never cooked with marrow before so any recipe contributions would be most welcome! Thanks folks!

Re: Help me with my roast potatoes.

my roasties are great every time, heres how I do em: Choose a variety thats more on the floury side. Boil them til cooked through. Drain em in a collander and shake about a bit to fluff up the edges. Whilst doing this preheat the oven to at least 200 C (I usually go with 220). Use a deepish baking t...

Guelder Rose and Whitebeam

'Lo folks, Went for a walk last night and had a good close look at the local hedgerows. I came accross all the usuals, sloes, brambles, elderberries, hazel etc but found a couple of bushes with berries on that I didn't recognise. Having done some research I believe them to be Guelder Rose (viburnam ...

Re: Photo Competition - win a signed copy of the paperback Bible

Here's a couple from me, you'll have to clicky on them though I'm afraid:

They were both taken in Richmond Park in June/ July this year.

Hope you like them.
