Re: YULETIDE GREETINGS
Hope everyone's having a good Solstice :) It's a lovely ham for us this evening, with beer and cheese bread, yum yum! Hope it tastes good after all that kneading

I learnt to knit this summer, which I'm quite proud of, but not proud of my new wool stashing habit!!

Re: What's your Stupidest moment
Oh dear, where to begin! I think one of the stupidest was when on a field trip during the first year of my archaeology degree, to Dartmoor to look at some of the settlement remains there. I thought I could get a better photo if I climbed on top of some slippery, shiny rocks. See, looking back I real...

Re: Why the SS life?
I think it's several different reasons all combining for me. For one, I'm a bit of a hippy, and feel connected to the land, and like a Hobbit I like nothing better than working the earth!! Also, I grew up in a household where everything was crap convenience food, parents never grew a thing in their ...

Re: for those who need a giggle at my expense!
You think someone calling out phillip oliver is bad, try being called Bowie! It took me a couple of shouts by the receptionist to realise she meant me  Glad you're guineas are OK, at least you're a caring enough owner to have them checked out just in case :) Plenty of people, sadly, wouldn't b...

No snow here, it's actually much warmer than recently, just rain for us! Can't say I'm not used to it ;)

Re: 2007 and 2008 top three and worst three crops
I'm in Mid Wales, so a wet summer was no surprise so me ;) Best: Potatoes (grown in buckets, we had a fantastic crop and no blight issues, they were maincrop) Carrots Parmex (again pot grown, lovely tasty and pretty quick growing) Chillies (jalapeno and purple something or other - I was stunned by h...

Re: Grump
We had neighbours next door to us in a flat a couple of years ago, who managed to make so much noise that they disturbed our sleep through three very thick Victorian stone walls! It was social housing for drug addicts (thanks for not mentioning that one, landlords!), and if we weren't being disturbe...

Re: Help, check shirt & stetson needed
If you don't find someone to borrow from (I;m sorry, can't help you on that front!), you could always try and make something vaguely resembling a cowboy? I once had one day's notice to do this for younger sister - the joys of primary school activity days. I used dusters and cut them into fringes and...

Re: Knitting
I taught myself using the interwebs this summer. So far I mostly knit scarves and hats, but I also mastered double knitting, and have just knit my first cowl in the round. I have been given sock yarn by MIL but still a bit scared to try! I find knitting very therapeutic, I use it to wind down when a...

Re: What sponsored things have you done
I did a lot of sponsored walks and cross country running back when I was fit enough!! I've also dressed as a bride from charity shop wedding dresses in a shopping centre for British Heart Foundation, sponsored tiddlywinks (at primary school!) and various quizzes. Nothing as adventurous as abseiling!
