Re: Downshifting

This is all good advice for you. I say you should go for it if it is something you want to do. Don't worry about what other people think. However, I totally understand how you feel as I lived for 3 years in a country where I wasn't permitted to work. The first thing everyone there asked me was "...

Re: Wormery/Bokashi Bin Advice Please...

Nev will the worms take meat scraps and coffee grounds though?

The ability to compost the meat scraps without a smell is the one thing that I really like about the bokashi.

Re: Wormery/Bokashi Bin Advice Please...

Me and my hubby have had both a full sized compast bin which we filled easily enough with a big garden plus kitchen waste and and bokashi bin (without the garden). I like the bokashi because of the ability to compost meat scraps and so even with a regular compost bin I would keep the bokashi. We wou...

Re: Just wanted to share because I got some got news

That's great! You will be helping those women and also it will be good experience for you for when you start looking for a job. Teaching English can be rewarding but it is also pretty hard work. Some of my work collegues here are learning English via the telephone or online. It is cool when technolo...

Human tetris is so much fun. I used to watch it often. I particularly like watching the group ones.

Re: Laptop without the Battery

I also love my laptop. I have been using a laptop and not a desktop at home for many years mostly because I don't have space for a desk for a computer and I can sit on the sofa with a laptop. Early this year I treated myself to a new netbook (an Acer Aspire one) which is similar to Mrs Fibble's eee ...

Re: expats, what food do you miss?

For me it would also be British sausages. No one else makes them quite the same. I do think it is a pretty sad thing to miss though! Also Findus crispy pancakes! I also like to have things like toasted teacakes and crumpets whenever I visit the UK but it is really only sausages and crispy pancakes t...

Re: Easy crafty stuff ?

If you can work with wood, how about a wooden jewelry box. There are some free plans here

http://www.woodworkersworkshop.com/reso ... hp?cat=670

to give you some ideas.

I also think that Zoe's idea of a box to put crafty things in is a good one.

Re: Why are we generally so useless at languages?

I also think it is about the importance that the schools and the country put on learning languages. Here is Korea learning English is considered really important and I wouldn't say that ability is really good but there are some elementary school students who can speak pretty well (even more so consi...

Re: Get rid of the smell of smoke

Thanks for the tips. Yes I (she!) am in South Korea at the moment so it is Autumn here but I am in the process of doing what you suggested MW and am essentially spring (autumn) cleaning which is quite satisifying anyway. Everything was covered in a thin layer of black soot so the cleaning part is ne...

Get rid of the smell of smoke

So there was a fire in our apartment building this week. Our apartment is not damaged but the rooms stink of smoke. Other than just giving it time is there anything else that is good for getting rid of the horrible smoky smell. I don't know why the fire happened but I have heard that they person who...

Re: So who manages without TV?

Me too. I hadn't had a TV for 5 years before moving here and I only ever missed the sport. It did mean that I could never join in the discussion at morning tea time as it was always about the latest show! When we moved we got offered 3 months free cable so we took it but we got it cancelled when the...
