Naughti Chook....

Hi I have 3 rescue chooks which we had back in July. All settled in really well but one (Flo) who is the biggest is somewhat of a bully. Shes definitely the boss about town and she is constantly plucking the feathers off the other two (Dot and Mo) from the botties, backs and necks. Flo has now grown...

Home made skin toner

Hi

I want to make my own skin toner since the one I use its ingredients are listed as Water and Lavender Essential Oil.

Not sure what the ratio is. Can anyone help? Dont want to overkill the oil you see.

Thanks

Collecting Seed

Hi Im having a go at collecting and saving seeds this year particularly for my broadies and peas. Never done it before. Do I just leave some on the plants until they die back and turn brown or do I pick them now and leave them to dry out? Does this rule follow all veg (and non veg) plants? Thanks al...

Treating a Chook injury???

One of my chooks has a bit of an injury, I dont know if shes cut herself somehow in the run or whether one of the others has had a bit of a peck. I guess the lack of feathers make it look worse than it actually is. Shes absolutely fine and dandy in herself but just wondered if i should be leaving we...

PLEASE HELP - Crop problem or not??

Hi Ive let my girls out this morning and noticed Flo's crop is still up. Can this happen or should it be flat first thing in the morning every morning? She seems to be eating, drinking and scratching about but just wondered if we need to try and do something or just leave her to it and she'll push i...

Say Hello to Dot, Mo and Flo....

Finally got round to posting some pics of my new 3 family members. We will have had them a week tomorrow. All the firls are doing fine and settling in nicely. Weve even had 3 eggs (well probably more like 7 but the rest have broken as the shells have been really thin or they laid on the perch so the...

Preventative measuures for parasites

I will have had my ex battery girls for a week this Saturday. I just wondered if its a good idea to start protecting them from various parasites red mites, fleas, lice etc and if so, what do other peeps use? Ive seem that some commercial products have been removed from sale so am cautious as to what...

Re: Think one of my ex battery chooks is poorly...??

Thanks for all your replies. Well the good news is that she seems a lot brighter. Last night she was out in the run scratching and pecking at corn on the floor, drinking and even sunbathing in the day. Dot and Flo went to bed and when I went outside to close the pop hole around 9pm Mo (the ...

Think one of my ex battery chooks is poorly...??

Hi all Picked up my first 3 ex battery chooks on Saturday. 2 are doing well but Im a bit concerned about one (Mo). She doesnt seem to be eating or drinking much at all and is being bullied a bit by one too. She just wants to sit or stand around. Is this normal behaviour after such an unheaval? The o...

Re: Whats up with my toms...?

Thanks for this Its only happening to the lower leaves at the mo, Mid to top leaves all seem really healthy and strong. I applied some liquid organic tom feed last night in a bid to counter the problem. It says to apply weekly and once fruiting to apply every 3 days so will have a go and see what ha...
