Good morning everyone from very sunny Bristol. I'm building a fixed chicken run and converting an old playhouse (see pics on my last post). I've been looking on various sites to find the right galvanised wire mesh for the run. The run is going to be 8ft x 8ft x 6ft high with a wire top as well. so I...

The next couple of days are going to be taken up with emptying the childrens playhouse of all of there treasures and sorting out the whole area ready for the girlies  I was thinking of using straw as a base for the coop and run. Is this toxic to hens? I dont want to leave any plants in the run that are going to harm the hens! Also there is ...

Re: DIY Wormery

I know what you mean. When I collected them the shop owner didnt have a spare plastic bag, and I forgot mine. So In the end I carried them home in my handbag. It was the only way of getting them back in the dark. Sorry forgot to say they were in a plastic take away box as well.   :lo...

Re: DIY Wormery

I have made the wormery out of 3 blue plastic boxes with lids. I fitted a plastic water tap to the bottom box. I then cut a hole in the bottom of the first box, a hole in the lid and bottom of the seccond box. Then fitted flat plastic draining boards to the holes. So my question is, have i done this...

DIY Wormery

I'm trying to work out if it's possible to make my own wormery. I have had a look on-line and in my local gardencenter, and my jaw dropped to the floor! I didn't realise how expensive they are. I posted a wanted on my local freecycle page in hope that there was one no one longer wanted. Or m...
