Re: Laundry balls

Hey there, I am biased as I sell soapnuts, but I have avoided the eco balls as they never seem to have achieved all that much in my experience, plus being made out of plastic kinda puts me off too.. Soapnuts however have done me proud for 3 years or so now along with helping me get rid of slugs afte...

Re: Plagues of whitefly and powdery mildew!!!

Soapnut liquid works nicely indeed. I have had very good results What may well work (i don't know much about bugs down under) is encouraging Ladybirds and Lacewings with a nesting box for them. The larvae of both of these are very similar and look like little crocodiles, http://www.kendall-bioresear...

Re: Rant about jumping on the eco friendly band wagon

I don't know if it helps but I have been using an SLS free Shampoo bar, it seems to be working a treat. It still stings when I get in in my eye but apart from that it is lovely and smells nice, I used soapnut liquid for a while which certainly worked and left my hair very soft. I just wanted to smel...

Re: Eggshell experiment - in progress

I have tried the eggshells and it is certainly true that they are ok, but you need to have a fairly large ring of shells there constantly. Watering as mentioned disrupts this. I have had a reasonable amount of success with using my old soapnuts after washing with them. The mashed up shells spread ar...

I would keep an eye out for something that he hasn't done yet so that next time he comes over and starts sticking his oar... or spade in... you can tell him to concentrate on his own allotment but thanks very much etc. I haven't even put my cabbages in yet, Late sure but they will catch up, nature f...

Re: Make my teeth white again?

Don't know much about the teeth whitening but I do know that salt water rinses are great for gum disease and any sort of fungal stuff... It sounds horrid but a heaped spoon in a glass of water gargled thoroughly does wonders, and it really doesn't taste so bad.. I am not a doctor nor a dentist but i...

Re: Rant about jumping on the eco friendly band wagon

I dont bother much with any cleaning products at all.. as a result I look and smell like and old tramp... Not really but you are all right with the advercon attitudes of a lot of the 'green' products. It is very difficult to find truly green products or even sometimes to get people to stock them, I ...

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/07/10/1975072.htm Posted this earlier, You can buy them but I reckon your best bet is to go to freecycle or similar and get an old urinal get loads of vinegar over it to eco clean it and then divert the waste onto the compost heap. Or a rainwater funnel...that...

Re: Allotment Rent

The rents have gone up quite a way our way too.. Ours has literally doubled... to £10 a year for half a plot, which is still big enough for my 16 hens and Howard the cock. I feel much better about the price after seeing what some of you are having to pay. It still seems like quite a hike even though...

Re: Anti Cat poo recipie.

Hello All. Post number 3, Good plans but as you say the increased traffic elsewhere hasn't been a winner. Last time I had a cat leaving me parcels I had a wee essentially everywhere the little feline bugger did it (after collection of the detritus of course). Not due to a weak bladder but marking my...
