Re: What do you heat your home with and what does it cost??

Minnesota can be cold. Lakes are usually frozen over for 4 months of the winter. Winter fishing, through a hole in the ice, is a big sport here. Anyway, I burn wood that I am able to get for free from various sources, the easiest is from the City's compost site, after a storm people cut up downed tr...

Decluttering garage sale

I've been hanging on to many things for many years.
Last week I had a garage sale to get rid of the clutter
that I don't use. Much was sold, the remainder was
donated to a Church Youth group for their garage sale fundraiser.

I adopted that after many years of trying to garden "in the flat" on a very low piece of land...always too wet, and ...

Re: wash hair every day?

I think about this all the time, ever since I heard of it. I work on contract on random projects and get periods of time off, but never really get more than a few weeks off. I don't think the boss would understand the transitional period...BUT some day, I'll give it a go.

Re: Just bought a standalone internet radio, it's great.

I've looked at those...

But I went with a digital radio...(in the USA, at least in my area it's pretty good)
I have the Teac-1, now discontinued, but is awesome for my locale.

Re: Queen wasp

I get about 5 or 10 in the house every winter. I burn wood for heat. I stack the wood outside and bring in a armload everyday. once in a while a large solitary yellowjacket wasp is found hibernating in the bark of the firewood, usually in Green Ash. If I don't notice her before she wakes up, my cats...

Re: Sugar

I was surprised when I was in the US, that all the bread tastes sweet. Obviously has quite a high sugar content, but to my taste not very pleasant! I imagine I am as American as it gets, because, I have the opposite reaction when having snackfood from overseas...crackers and cookies and such. I thi...

Oh yeah, The Black Brandywine is very tasty and robust, Dark red flesh. Unlike other brandywine tomatoes (I've grown 3), it surprisingly starts producing fairly early for a larger tomato ...but actually I get many various sizes of friut, the largest are just over 16 ounces and there are some as smal...

I grow several varities every year, My fav in Rutgers...I actually did an experiment last summer, growing Rutgers from 5 seed sources, 2 of them I saved from previous years. There were lots of differences in them...from size to blight tolerance. I grow them in raised rows. http://i640.photobucket.co...

Re: Cat litter

I'm looking after 2 cats for nearly 3 weeks and they produce an amazing amount of incredibly smelly poo. I strongly suggest the dustbin ! as for the high quantity of smelly poo, this is usually caused by cheap food. try to convince the Pet owner to spend more money on high quality food, the cats wi...
