Council compost - any good?

My local authority is now selling compost made from collected garden waste, do you think it'll be any good from just garden waste alone? I could do with some while I'm waiting for my own.

Sainsburys recycling

Just noticed that the plastic packets I get dried pulses in now say that I can put them in the plastic bag recycling bin in store. They used to say that they couldn't be recycled so I'm chuffed with that :flower:

Re: Why do you have to cook beetroot before freezing?

I cooked it this time because I was worried about the enzymes, but I'm curious about how much of a difference it would make to veg that you'll just be putting in a soup?

Chard and Pak Choi recipes?

I get a lot of chard and pak choi in my veg box and I really don't like it! Unfortunately I've already asked them to change a few other things so until I grow all my own veg I'm stuck with it! They're ok in a stir fry, but there's only so much stir fry I can eat! Has anyone got any recipe ideas?

Re: ..stop cats using my lawn for a toilet???

I agree with the water pistol aproach if you're around or even a tennis ball thrown in their direction. It seems they become well aware that you can reach them without actually doing any running (which they can beat you at easily). If the cats are visiting at night, a length of fencing wire or very...

Best potatoes and onions?

I'm new to potato and onion growing and I'll be growing in both ground and containers. Any tips on which are the best, and if possible, where you got your seeds from? My soil is sandy naturally. :sunny:

Re: more rabbitting pics {CAUTION - PHOTOS}

And IMHO people getting upset by pictures like these need to take a look at themselves before moaning, as they've lost sight of where their food comes from, not to mention their heritage. Contadino, the problem was that people did not expect to see a hunting photo on the photo competition, it is fi...
