Re: Interested in making my own lotions and potions...

Oops  Thanks GA and sorry Susie  Ihave known this but tend to find skin sensitivity info hard to retain ... probably because my skin seems about as sensitive as a rhino's! Since scrubbing my forehead with neat domestos and a pan scrubber in my teens (to try to reduce terrible 'henna head...

Re: So while the cat's away.....

Wow! Looks great Julie, well done to you :salute: My OH is away for the day and so far I've rotated between making lotions & potions, catching up on ISH and drinking a beer in the garden( surely not at this time of day  ). So far I've achieved:piles of washing up and scattering bottle...

Re: Olive Oil soap

Sounds good Susie :flower:

Yes, I would ideally like just olive oil if possible cause it's a few less air miles but will see how I go and maybe come back to you!

Thanks, Jill

Re: Interested in making my own lotions and potions...

Mybe not what you are looking for Susie but I make solid perfume .. just a mix of oil and wax e.g. beeswax and almond oil with essential oils added. When I made one that didn't smell strongly enough a while ago I remelted it in the microwave in the pot and think I will just make it like this in futu...

Olive Oil soap

Hello  Reading through some old posts it seems maybe some people here make olive oil soap? I haven't tried as I'd read that it's tricky to get good solidity but would be very happy to find out that's wrong as olives grow a lot closer to home than palms and coconuts (2 oils I have used)! If any...

Re: facebook abuse

Glad to hear there should be a lull if not an end to it all. Thank goodnesss for grandad.

I do wish people would sort their anger out instead of taking it out on the wrong people.
Hope you get some respite now :hugish: :hugish:

Re: Interested in making my own lotions and potions...

Hello  I prefer to use glass jars as I'm not keen on the idea of nasties leaching out of plastic but this isn't based on any understanding of the subject just a general fear of nasties. We save nice jars and family keep hold of food/ cosmetics jars for me. I have also bought glass jars off eba...

101 ishy type holidays?

Hello  Not quite sure this is the right place to post this but ... have long thought about doing a volunteer holiday maybe with the RSPB or similar and wondered if anyone had any experiences of this or any other smashing holiday ideas? I will start us off with ... 1. Wild camping on Mull. Waki...

Re: What have you learned?

Definitely learned that being united by a common subject (but not being too precious about it) is a smashing way to meet lots of lovely folk. Definitely learned that having 'somewhere' to go with likemindeds helps me stay sane in my daily life surrounded by consumerism gone bonkers. Lots of practica...

Re: How do I complain about our honeymoon?

Thanks everyone! I think I partly just needed a moan! I've played the problems down with family and friends as I didn't want people to be upset for us and also some of them would have got really angry and I've just been too tired to want to deal with their anger ... seems like I forgot I am angry! F...

Re: (Swiss) Chard

We eat chard most days along with perpetual spinach! Like others we have it in salads & stir fries or as a side veg we like it sauteed with garlic, rosemary & black pepper with leeks or cabbage or peas. Also I put big stems/ older leaves into cauliflower cheese. May not be the most exciting veg but ...

Re: Dentist

Thank goodness! Bet you're glad that's over with! I tried listening to a tape while having an op in hospital a few years ago but the nurse kept taking my earphones out so she could talk to me, she was for some reason convinced I was listening to Shania Twain (who she was really into)! :flower:

How do I complain about our honeymoon?

Hello  We go married on 29th May  and hired a campervan for our wedding vehicle and honeymoon. There were loads of problems with it (20+), which were due to indadequate servicing/ preparation of the vehicle. These ranged from annoying (e.g. cool box & awning broken and stereo missing) ...
