Oh my!

My cats like to dig aswell, so i have netted over the borders and the veg pach, it seems to be working. I use bricks to hold the netting down they cant shift a brick buy your dogs might.

Give it a go at this point you have nothing to loose.

Very interesting, and worring.

We and farmers can all do our bit but we are still stuck with the ostrich people who think everything will last for ever and it is all for them to use (like my neighbour :angryfire: )

Do you eat your chickens Evelyn? No, they are happly laying eggs for me, and roming round the garden. When they go off lay finaly, they will spend the rest of there days as pets, i live on a housing estate and killing animals is not alowed. Chickens are a woodland bird and therefor there natural behaviour is to scrath for food, ok not many of us live in a wood and we feed our birds. I have only had my girls a few weeks and ther production is a bit hit and miss at the moment but when i take into acount that i got the birds x4 coup, 8ft run water feeder and pelit feeder, 25kg layers pelits, 25kg corn and a role of neting for £150 i still think i got a good deal, so far i have had...

Compost it. Just make sure you use equal amounts of green matter to balance it out, i have been doing it for years and it makes brillient black rich compost. If you dont have enough green matter enlist the help of a friend or two, i have given my friensd buckets so they can save me there veg peeling...

I was told by the old farmer i got my girls from "not to bother with the oyster shell nonsence, dry out there egg shells and crush them" I have been told this before from other farm folk, you just have to do a good job crushing, so the chuks dont reconise what it is, because they will smash and eat ...

I got my 4 beautiful ladies on Saterday.
