Re: Tomato plants - removing leaves ?

And here's me.... well, I chop EVERY little branch to just the 2 leaves nearest the stem. I wait until the flowers start & then once I am feeding, I do it on a weekly basis. My old nan used to say that it was for 2 things - one for the light to get to the fruit easier, which is more important at the...

Re: Need a hug

Misty, is it possible to get a few days off work? I know some places will give it to you as compassionate leave.

You need a few days to get everything in order, as well as just taking time to breathe & stop. Then a few deep breaths & you'll be fighting fit to eneter into the world again xx

Re: Using old paint pots for container gardening

Yep, I would do exactly the same! Plant pot from the shop might look pretty, but all the plant wants is some good soil to spread their roots - they don't care what the outside looks like! Oh... and don't forget, you need to earth up any runner beans that you have to 6 inches of the top of the plant....

I rather think his head will be just a tad wibbly-wobbly for a few weeks until he gets used to the new lack of weight going on up there!!

Re: Need a hug

:hugish: From me too Misty. Take things day by day for a little while and look after yourself. It's natural to want to wallow - and so you should! Forget the things that you think you 'should' be doing (ironing, washing floors etc) they will all still be there later on. Snuggle up & take some 'me' t...

Re: is is too late!!!

Over here in Ireland, Aldi are doing a 'mature plant' sale at the moment - tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, at 4 euros a go - keep your eyes open for similar where you are. Or you could pop to the local garden centre & see what they have on sale & rescue those? I'd try anything that you have seeds for...

You could hold them over their nest boxes & squeeze them a little, Jess....... Yes, I'm kidding  Chooks seem to be a law unto themselves don't they? I have been missing a duck egg each day... I only had 9 a day for the last 3 days.... then saw the bassets snuffling in a bank so went to explore....

Re: Stupid, stupid people......

To be fair, I don't think Gill meant her post to come across so harsh, Ann. Waaa-aaa-aaayyy back in '96, I became an AOL Guide in the chat rooms & one of the first things I was told was that some folks have the natural ability to 'smile from the wrists down'. And that is why some of us were asked by...

Re: being driven over the edge by houseguest...'scuse the ra

Yep, been there, done that!! We asked hubby's real dad & stepmum to visit us when we first moved here. This is where the father-in-law originates from & he's such a lovely man & his wife is a right sweetheart.... when you don't have to live with them! They came for a fortnight & even on the last day...

33. Remember that those small little seedlings will grow into huge great things eventually & give them enough room to grow! (Says me who last year, left 8 inches or so for cauliflowers... big mistake!!)

Re: Stupid, stupid people......

It's ok, Ruth, I've got this.... Didnt think you lived so rural Julie. When we visited you it was only two minutes from a small town! Connemarra is rural. Also people are not always 'in tune' with people who see to them selves! You have to have an understanding of other folk. Give and take. That's w...
