Sloppy potatoes

Our homegrown potatoes go mushy when boiled. Has anybody else had this problem and does anybody have a solution. We have been told we are not watering enough, not adding enough muck to the soil and are growing the wrong variety. Any thoughts or suggestion would be much appreciated.

Totally. What we find really satisfying is making a salad which has just been picked from allotment produce. Tasty and satisfying

Great one is by Collins Gem - Food for Free and can be picked up very cheaply on Amazon for about £3.

Re: Gooseberries

If left to fully ripen on the bush they are lovely and sweet or a bit tart if picked earlier.

Re: beetroot juice

Beetroot juiced on its own has a very strong flavour and its better if diluted by mixing with celery, cucumber or carrots or all four together. Try 1 large beetroot, 1 large carrot, 2 stalks of celery and 1/2 a cucumber.

Re: Woodburner finally in

Hope you enjoy your wood burner. We would not be without ours. Just a suggestion to reduce your energy costs a bit more is to do some of your cooking on the wood-stove. Our wood-stove is flat on top, so is able to support a saucepan safely and reaches a very hot surface temperature. The wood-stoves ...
