Brewers Yeast Confusion

Hi all, Apologies if this has been answered before - please feel free to redirect me to the answer! I'm about to set out on my first attempt at Elderberry Wine using the glut I have left after making the Blackberry and Elderberry Jam from the Ish Bible. I'm trying to follow the instructions in the I...

Re: Apples and Alcohol

Thanks MKG - good of you to look for me.

I thought it would be a long shot. I have two recipes that involve using cider in apple jellies or there's always the orange and whisky marmalade if she's really desperate and is prepared to use something other than her apples! :drunken:

Cheers,

Apples and Alcohol

Hi all, I'm on the hunt for a recipe that involves apples and alcohol. A friend of mine has a tree with what can be described as 'tart' apples on it and she wants to make some preserves as presents for Christmas with the fruit. She has asked if I have any alcoholic recipes but the best I can offer a...

Re: Genealogy - just the off chance

We have a huge family tree that goes back 8 generations - Berwick upon Tweed rings a bell.

Bear with me - I'm going to Newcastle again this weekend but I'll dig it out when I'm back on Monday and let you know.

Re: My Cycle tour (Bristol to Scotland) can I stay at yours?

if you're travelling through Leicester and need a place to stay we have a sofa! What Niki said! We have a spare room if required however we'll probably both (Jybson & I) be at work and have no annual leave left to book so we probably wouldn't be able to catch up with you during the day! Soz. Ho...

Just thought I'd put this post to the top of the list again...

Still not sure what's happening with my brothers birthday do - but is this 'meet' still happening?

Re: Self sufficientish Day August 13th

Okay - I know this is slightly after the fact but as I was working on the 13th August and I've had a couple of hectic weekends around that week and since - I only managed to have my first crack at jam making yesterday! We went foraging for elderberries - well, I say foraging...my brother is lucky en...

Re: washing machine problem

Not sure if this will help - but have you cleaned out the filter in a while? My mum had a similar problem when the drum was not emptying of water after a wash and the clothes had some dirt on them. Apparently you're supposed to flip open the small door at the bottom right hand side on the front of y...

Re: No TV for a while

I'd love to get rid of the TV. I tentatively suggested that we do this to Jybson some time ago...I've left it hanging since then, and I was surprised that he mentioned it to me (as if it was his idea) last week. Excellent. We've just got to carry it through now but I'm not too worried - we only swit...

Wow - loving the 'plarn'!

I've seen a number of patterns that could use plastic bags cut into strips but never thought to join up strips like this before. Nice one MrsF - thanks for sharing :thumbright:

Re: what makes you giggle?

Talking about the France v GBR archery...did you hear the commentator (the actual on site one, not the telly one) say something along the lines of: " This is the greatest meeting of these two teams since...I was going to say Agincourt...but I won't" Slightly random! Jybson says - http://ww...
