Re: Cheap fruit bushes

Graham, watch out for those pound shop gooseberry bushes - we bought a couple last year and one of them turned out to be a rather pretty, but decidedly gooseberry-less shrub! Not exactly sure *what* it is, but it's certainly not a gooseberry!

Not new, but it's been a while!

Hello all, not been about much for an age on this forum. I've been of my feet with becoming a teacher, but now I'm moving away from our little house to live with the in-laws for a few months so will need this place to keep me sane!! They are suburban dwellers and I really will miss the countryside. ...

Re: Should Kids Start School Later?

Well, I'm just going into primary education and Jim is on the ball. Here in Wales the foundation phase is going some way to making education up to 7 more play based, informal hands on stuff, but a serious number of teaching staff are opposed to the changes, seeing it as just another fad. They won't ...

Re: What should I do?

Annpan, what a lovely considerate lady you are. I'm sure some lovely home made soup and a little pop round to see how they are doing would be appreciated - often in these circumstances, people don't know how to react and the breaved can be left alone as others don't quite know how to handle them.

Re: Moon planting query

I'm a little rusty on this, but I'm sure there are certain stages when things are best doen - so sew your seeds at one stage, then plant out at another, etc. Biodynamics was a big thing on a community garden I used to volunteer with, but sadly it went downhill when some members took their green fing...

Re: Can we embarrass ourselves...?

Oooh, I am newly of the iPo owners (present from hubby for my hard work teaching!) so I can join in. I have a very bizarre mix on my iPod, and in taste in general. You should see a record collection, everything from Pink Floyd to the "Good, the Bad and the Ugly" soundtrack! My shuffle 10 f...

Re: The ish meet thread

The CAT would be marvellous as it's just down the road from me ;) But I'd love to do the Eden project too, or GW live. Please could we make it outside of term time though? Otherwise I'll have no chance of making it, unless I bring my class along with me - it could be an educational trip I suppose :w...

Re: The Wonder of Woolworth's

It was sad to see Woolies so bare yesterday, I managed to pick up a pile of spare school jumpers for the school though (we have a stash for not so well off kids who tend to come without them) at 80% off. Where will I go to for uniforms when I have my own sprogs?? I'd better start knitting school jum...

Re: Being cheap

I actually quite enjoy ironing, much more than hoovering, which is my least favourite chore! I find ironing quite therapeutic and relaxing, I must be some kind of nutter  I also dislike scrubbing the kitchen floor, as my knees play up - i have to wear a pair of gardening knee pads and so look ...
