Hello, again...it's been a while.

Hello: I can't remember the last time I posted, but we've all moved on from Shropshire to West Yorkshire. After being here for a month, we have just taken tenancy of a MASSIVE allotment and are about to start planning and prepping to go planting mad come Spring. We drank to contents of our nano-brew...

Re: SUMA ordering - anyone ?

Have ordered direct in the past and the order arrives just like an order from Amazon: if I'm in I get it, if I'm out it gets left with a nominated neighbour. Easy enough, but I can see it being an issue if you are out all day teaching. From a quick glance at their webpage, if you have a wholesale tr...

Re: freecycle

Glad it's not just me on the politeness/greediness issues. Today's wanteds include a chocolate leather sofa and a reflector telescope. Not at all specific then! Of the stuff I've offered, my 'favourite' reply asked if the extendable curtain pole came with curtains, and if yes were they 6' drop and b...

freecycle

Just had to laugh at the post on our local freecycle. In amongst the requests for pianos and televisions (far outnumbering the offers of old bricks and topsoil and baby clothes) was a 'WANTED: boat (it doesn't hurt to try)' post. Obviously, this is tongue in cheek, but does anybody else think some o...

Re: Is my cat odd?

My old cat used to 'chirp' whenever you rattled loose change. My brother discovered that she would do the same when he waved paper money in her direction and ditto his credit card.
Cats are all mad...but never boring.

Recently heard the words 'Take your coat off or you won't feel the benefit' fall out of my mouth. I cannot be saved.

Re: A Decent Annual Salary

This one is really close to our hearts: the main reason why Jerseymum now lives in Shropshire (ooh, talking about myself in 3rd person, feel a bit sociopathic, now  ) I think it really does depend on where you live. In Jersey we had a combined salary of 60k and when a childminder suddenl...

Re: How tall are you?

Interesting thread. I'm 5'6" My Dad is 5'8" and Mum 5'3". My sister is 5'4" and my brother is a massive 6'4". Despite dad's modest height and his short parents, we do have a very old photograph of my great, great grandad and we think that is where bro gets it from: gggrandad...

Re: Buy cheap buy twice

Good value: Magimix - after making babyfood and cakes for 6 years we have still only had to replace the blade in the last 6 weeks. DM boots - bought most of mine at the start of the 90s and I'm still wearing them Miele washing machine - now almost 10 years and it is fantastic - even when part of the...

Very little left of half an inch or so from Saturday :( . More forecast for tonight and tomorrow: keeping my eyes on the school's website so that I know what is happening tomorrow. Loads of soup and bread for the next few days methinks Yum!
