Don't forget that that was done in the US - the list may be slightly different here. (For example - what are "imported grapes" in the US? Imported from where?) Imported from South America. The grapes we see in the stores in winter all all from Chile. The article also lists the "least...

How to ID an old apple tree?

There is a tree on our farm that was planted in the 1950's. I want to find out what type of apple it is. Do I need just collect/photograph some of the apples when they ripen? Or also pics/samples of the flowers and leaves?

I have boarded at a few barns and visited others before I brought my horses home. The most common thing around here is a basic rate, and a list of fees for the extra stuff like worming, supplements. What you include is totally up to you. You can start out with a basic rate with no extras and see how...

I wouldn't think having the two types close would cause problems unless you wanted to save some corn for re-seeding next year.

I'm going to plant sweetcorn and popcorn this coming season, will see how they do!

Any free pattern sites for handbags?

The strap on my purse is about to break. I can fix it, but I thought it would also be a good idea to consider making a new one myself. It will take me some time to sew (I am a novice sewer!). And with a new one coming along, I will be less tempted to buy one at the store! Anyone know any good free p...

Can you tell us wat you grew last year and which ones of those you liked/didn't like? That gives us something to go on when making a guess what might be great for you to try next. Last year I grew sweetcorn, peas and tomatoes. The garlic got wrecked by the chickens. :) the peas were a disappointmen...

I recommend a good cookbook, like "From Asperigus to Zucchinni". -Ellendra PS: I'm from Wisconsin, just a few hours from you! I do need a cookbook for vegetables! I have lots of cookbooks, but their veggies are mostly sides and your basic corn/peas/carrots. Yay for the midwest, I was hopi...

Thanks for sharing! One of my problems is that I don't know how to cook veggies either, so I really appreciate you all saying how you like to eat them. Yummy!

A friend collects all her horse manure into one big heap. She waters it and turns it with a tractor and once it's done composting, she puts an ad in the paper. People come from all over to get the free compost, and they ask for tips to help pay for a bobcat machine they use to load trucks for people...

What is your Favorite vegetable to grow? and eat?

I grew up not eating a lot of veggies, we ate spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, and pizza a lot. So here I am trying to learn to grow veggies and I don't know what any of them taste like! I know I like a few, and did grow some last year, but I want some new things to add to our plates this year. There...

What to do with all the Christmas Cards?

We get a lot of cards from having a large extended family and a farm business. A few of the cards I really like the cover (I love a good snowman!) and would like to find some type of craft to save them and make them into something to enjoy again next year. Any ideas? And anything I can do with the r...

The "common" pheasants here in the US, take a different feed than chickens. I just received a catalog from a place we have ordered butchered pheasants from, and is says to not feed pheasants chicken feed, quoted from the catalog: "Do not feed chicken feed to your chicks, it could seri...
