Yep MKG read up on that one. Although they're too small to pick anything from at the moment anyway but am just leaving them to do their own thing and will hopefully be able to harvest next year.

Do I cut them back at the end of their growing season or do they just die back naturally?

Rhubarb - Champagne

I purchased a couple of rhubarb plants a while back and on the label it says to plant them in a shady corner (which I have done) / ideal for forcing but when reading all my gardening books they all say that rhubarb should be planted in a sunny position. Am I missing a trick here, should it be shady ...

Raspberry Canes - Appear dormant

Hi

My Dad bought some rasberry canes about a month ago but as yet no buds, leaves or anything, they're still just bare canes.

I have no idea what variety they are but even so, should they showing some sort of life by now?

Thanks

Watering Tomatoes....

MOH kindly gave me a hand and watered my plants in the greenhouse last night. When I nipped in to have a look he had watered everything from top down so all the leaves on all the plants were soaking. I know he was trying to help but I nearly throttled him when I saw all the leaves on my toms soaking...

Hi Stonehead

Where do you get your nematodes from? shop or on line? Do they work on snails too or just slugs?

Thanks again

General Fertilizer - What dyou use?

On reading lots of gardening books it very often says "once planted, incorporate some general fertilizer". Just wondered what other peeps use as Im never sure what to go for so currently havent really used anything apart from well rotted muck prior to planting.

Thanks

Red Barons

Planted out some red onions the other day (barons) but about a month ago a incorporated some well rotted organic muck into the bed. Read that you shouldnt plant onions in freshly mucked soil (albeit it is well rotted not fresh). Have I dropped a cod here?? will this result in naff red onions?? :oops...

Problem with Toms already......

Hi Sowed some toms a few weeks back and pricked them out about 10 days ago into their own pots. Theyre in my greenhouse (unheated) and taking a look at them this evening when I got home from work I noticed that the seed leaves ars losing their colour and turning quite pale and also on the true leave...

Thanks for that

When potting on into bigger pots is it okay to put them a bit deeper as my cucs seem a bit leggy - from sitting on a windowsill no doubt to germinate ??

Thanks again

Hi MillyMollyMandy
Last year I grew my cucumber in a bit plastic pot fill with organic compost and some well rotted organic muck (horse I think!)

Hi Cheezy
Dyou think its worth mixing a bit of epsom salts into the the compost when I transfer my cucumber into its final home?

Thanks
