Planting a hedge
I'm about to order some hedgerow plants to replace the fence in my gardens. I've seen packs of 2 year old bare rooted stock for sale realitively cheaply. The thing is they are a mix of plants that seem a bit odd to the novice hedgerow planter (ie me). The mixes are mostly hawthorn or blackthorn but ...

Re: Favourite board games.
I remember PIT, good game and quite like the idea of pandemic, will look it up. Backgammon is my absolute favourite. Big fan of Scrabble too, unless playing against someone who is impossible to beat. Trival pursuit always comes out too but I'm still not that sure I really enjoy playing it. It can be...

Re: Does anyone NOT have a television?
To pick up on what Zech said It makes me feel a bit guilty about not paying the license fee, really! and I assume I'm courting controversy here but...I know we might bemoan the TV licence and the fact that we have to pay it, but I know I'd happily pay £300 a year for access to Radio 4 alone. I'm won...

Worst job ever
Strikes me that the job I have now is alright, especially compared to the jobs I've had. Ok, worst jobs ever in reverse order. 5. Double glazing selling 4. pouring mince into a hopper in a - 5c food factory 3. making boxes in a Burton warehouse at 17 years old and having the nickname of stig of the ...

Happy Christmas one and all
Just wanted to wish members new and old, lurkers and even the spammers (well perhaps not the spammers) a very happy Christmas and a great new year. May your homebrew be vintage, may your chickens continue to lay, may the cats stop digging up your seedlings and crapping on them, may your runner beans...

Sitting hear after gatcrashing Emma's (the other half) work do I've found myself a dit bunk listening to you tube songs... now none of these songs are necessarily my favourite songs, nor are any ones that I'd want to sit back on the tube and listen to.... they are all my drunk top 5 and all will be ...

Lets not call last orders at the Selfufficientish pub
In the past we used to used the analogy that this forum is like a local pub and the same social rules apply. The comparison states that most people wouldn't walk into a public house/bar and start shouting at people randomly, nor would they sit down with strangers and try to deliberatley wind them up...

Re: The selfsufficientish forum awards 2011 WIN PRIZES
Right then, not the most successful of competitions! Perphaps next time I'll set up a comp where everyone has to jump through a ring of fire, swim across a croc swap and retrieve a golden amulet from the jaws of ancient sun god deep in the jungle that time forgot. Hmm..... or perhaps a photo comp! S...
