Re: New EU seed regulations

Hi, Wasn't aware of this, so earlier today I sent an email to my (Irish) MEP and they have already responded! Here is what they say: -snip- In the past two weeks the four main political Groups in the European Parliament, unhappy with the Commission proposals and the subsequent report, have decided t...

Re: manage my willow coppice?

I never though about thinning, to create fewer thicker stems..... This is the first lot, growing high again after having been cut: http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u194/merc3ps/Garristown/2013-08-31182555_zps3bc9b73a.jpg Halfway through planting a few weeks ago: http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/...

Hi,

I use transparent spiral plastic guards. There is evidence or rabbits in the area but everything seems OK for now with the guards.

Re: Hi from Dublin

Hi, ours is about 12 x 20. The problem i have with it is that it is quite high and it is hard to replace broken panes! We grow lots! We have a very successful grapevine. Also good results with tomatoes. We did a peach tree and got a few off of it but it died. Also, some peppers, cucumbers and the us...

Re: manage my willow coppice?

Hi, that link is not working. I bought my initial 500 setts from Bow Hayes Trees. I was going to cut them to the ground this winter, and use the cuttings to plant up my next 500 setts, but I have now decided that I should really have planted a mix of varieties.... so I am going to take cuttings from...

Re: What do you heat your home with and what does it cost??

When we bought our house it had an oil tank and boiler. A few years later, mains gas came to our area and I decided to hook up to it and replace the oil boiler with a gas one, even though it was working perfectly well. We find it convenient (no tank filling) and efficient. I sold the oil boiler. We ...

manage my willow coppice?

Hi all, Are there any willow growers on here? Last March I planted 500 willow setts on .25 acres. It is now all 6-9 foot high. This Jan/Feb I will be planting another .25 acres. I am a little unsure about what to do with the 1st .25 acres. Some material I read says to cut it down close to the ground...

Hi from Dublin

Hi, We are from North Dublin. We have had a greenhouse for a while. We had a local person dismantle unused market garden greenhouses from the area and rebuild to our size/spec in our garden. It's great. We devoted part of our garden to fruit and veg. We have 4 chickens which are more like pets. We h...
