Wow, Christine, that looks fabulous! It sounds like a lot of work has gone into the engineering. Instead of emailing everyone with a check sheet of brainwaves and pitfalls, why not post a summary on here so you only have to do it once. I'm interested, have been given the go ahead to try an...

  and I thought sat navs were a dinky kind of computer, GIGO (garbage in, garbage out) and would logically take you the same route each time! Just goes to show, Spock really doesn't come from Swindon. keep those pallets out of the skips!! If anyone else is near enough to make u...

Thomzo, :hello2: Thank you once again. Pallets stacked and ready to be worked on this weekend - I'll be trying a variety of these methods to separate the blocks and planks - Will let you know! Slightly aside, the Sat Nav I'd borrowed to get to you, strangely took me back on a different route ...

Mentioned the 'liquid gold' concept to OH over the Easter weekend - while my parents were visiting - they're big on gardens & I was hopeful of knowledgable support. Parents just fell about laughing at the expression on OH's face. Still, maybe it'll all compost by next year, activator or ...

Planted some organic yellow onions today which had begun sprouting green shoots in the shop. My step-dad says these will grow into spring onions in a couple of months. Speedy & tasty if he's right!!

Hamster, the local Freecycle.com groups and oxford freecycle cafe are pretty active and seem to come up with some results - you could put a request out to local bods who will be looking to plant up. Given the quantity of compost you'd be looking at, I would figure it worth asking if anyone has any l...

I'm just wondering if geo-caching (not sure that's spelt right) would be any use in helping you kick start a community garden. The way I had it described to me was that if a local rep or group (?) agree to support a project, they publicise the grid ref or whatever across the geo-caching world with a...

We have used whole pallets for building compost heaps at the school I work at. It seems to be difficult to get spare pallets, one of the staff has a contact who is able to supply pallets from time to time. We are planning to build our own planters for a courtyard in the centre of school. I am still ...

I have a Panasonic which makes high stubby-length loaves. I think its great. But every time I use it I wonder how much power it uses compared to cooking it in the oven. Also, whether my confidence that it is better for the environment to make my own, rather than have bread made in a regional factory...
