try doing it all in French, it's even worse, especially as they have a talent for shrugging and ignoring all consumer rights!

Re: Help with gout pleeeeease

My husband gets gout and uses a cherry vitamin C tablet, bought from the chemist, a bit more expensive than the normal Vit C but very effective. And he has also been given pills from a friend in the US, presumably the ones aforementioned, and they were excellent too. Good luck!

Re: allergy to onions & garlic

OH is not allergic, he has a bad form of IBS and has been using a FODMAP diet which is pretty dire for we who love food. We've found that onions, garlic, and leeks, cause him a great deal of pain. We grow chives so when they flower we'll give it a go. Ayervedic recipes? wow will have to look that up...

allergy to onions & garlic

Does anyone have any ideas for replacing onions and garlic in cooking as husband no longer able to eat them? I have put ginger in stir fries and that is excellent but things like stews and soups are sadly lacking something without an onion.

Re: Weight loss group 2012

Thanks for the invite Big Al. Yes I need to lose about 5 pounds to keep me at my desired weight. I've lost a pound in one week, and lived on very plain food..no carbs at all, no wine, no bread, potatoes, cream sauces & etc. Eating grapefruit and Greek yoghurt as a treat! Also walking an hour a d...

Re: Turkey offal help needed

I live in SW France where gizzards are a real treat and can be pricey. Just Google "Gesiers confit" and you'll find heaps of gizzard recipes. I've also slowishly cooked hearts with smoked paprika and chilli, serving with cocktail sticks through them for halloween...it terrifies the childre...

Marmalade Gin

We have just sampled our marmalade gin, which we made out of the tons of marmalade I made when getting kilos and pounds muddled. It's very easy: a one pound jar of marmalade, a bottle of gin, 5oz sugar and 5 drops of vanilla essence. Put into a a kilner jar and leave for 3 weeks. taste and add more ...

Re: Moving country to be self sufficient

We are in rural France, with chickens (eating and egg varieties), cat and dog, veggie patch, and walnut orchard. No neighbours for miles, no heavy traffic, and enjoy a sort of selfsufficincyish life. Couldn't possibly afford this in the UK. However, we only had 10 years before retirement pensions ki...

Re: Wine from home grown grapes - help!

I have just collected over a hundredweight of muscat grapes from one vine, and one more vine to pick. Rather than wine, which is far better in the shops than I could make, I bought 150 plastic cups for a euro in my local sumermarket, filled each one up and froze them in batches on a tray. Then when ...

:angryfire: There you are! Very apt I think - wishfully thinking! Our Jotul is performing so well with the wood and the Bosky isn't so we continue with our search for the final solution.

Re: Bosky F30

Hi Thank you so much for all that information, It is difficult trusting wood suppliers, we have discarded 3 who either delivered wet new wood or short changed us. This one came recommended by several others, and the wood burns beautifully in the Jotul. Our basement is only a basement in that the bac...
