cohousing

We have been looking into cohousing recently and have friends involved in Lancaster Cohousing. Its starting to take shape. After years of hard work, the community group I know in Lancaster has just started building 41 eco-homes. They’ve still a few houses left: 1 bed, 3 beds and a larger 3-4 bed, in...

Re: ...get rid of several tons of rubble?

hire a man with a JCB, we pay about £25 per hour for our local guy and skip to take it away, last time i hired one was about £150. dont risk doing it by hand, your back is worth an awful lot more!

Re: Septic tanks in the UK

if its looked after, you should never need to get it pumped, been here 6 yrs and previous house 7 yrs and never needed to get it pumped, as long as you look after it. a certain amount of paper is ok, bacteria will digest cellulose as long as not excessive. if you are having to get it pumped out ever...

Re: 4bed Passiv Haus in rural Aberdeenshire for sale

Re: Septic tanks in the UK

as long as you look after a septic tank and dont use any cleaning chemicals in the house with bleach then you should never have any problems. you can buy additives in the UK from the likes of B&Q, in the old days they just stuck a dead rabbit in the tank, however these additives are just found n...

Re: which tea?

equal exchange organic fairtrade loose leaf assam tea (from Suma). one of the few orthodox teas ready available in the UK, orthodox means a rolled leaf rather the standard machine process (CTC) tea in the Uk. takes longer to brew but the flavour is excellent.
