Hi,I had this problem too,so I bought a couple of rubber eggs from Wilkinsons,rubbed a bit of mustard on them and it seems to have worked,no more broken eggs !

I'm lucky enough to live near the coast so I use a lot of seaweed as a mulch,which feeds the soil.I have an interesting brew on the go which includes comfrey,seaweed and nettles.It has been brewing for a couple of months in a lidded bucket,and looks dark brown now,so will start feeding my tomatoes a...

thanks everyone,my cucumber was delicious ! and i'm glad others take photos of what they've grown,I even had a photo of my Purple sprouting broccoli as screensaver on my phone ! Is anyone else this sad???

Hia,I used my nettle and seaweed concoction last nite and i was nearly retching the smell was so bad !!!! Another allotment holder told me he thought the farmers nearby were muck-spreading! Have used it before and it seems to do the world of good,so hold your nose and go for it ! x

Well done you,sounds lovely.Hopefully will be doing the same in a couple of weeks (apart from the pigeon). We've had a lot of cold windy weather here in Pembrokeshire,so most things on my allotment are sulking.

Today i planted out some kale,sowed some swede and beetroot,planted some yellow french beans,fed the pumpkins and courgettes,picked some lettuce,spinach,herbs, 1 strawberry and a few peas (the last 2 didn't make it home)

What's the best recipe you've devised using your home - grown produce? Having a glut of a particular fruit or vegetable often calls for us all to be a bit more creative in the kitchen. Mine is rhubarb,honey and orange ice-cream. Yum

Poor you,it's awful that your line manager can get away with treating you like that. My best antidote to an awful day is to take a flask of very good coffee to my allotment,sit and listen to the birds for a while,then find a patch and do some serious digging over. It really gets rid of frustration x

I'm going to try this too,I always grow radishes but not that keen on them after a couple of weeks. Would love to try to make beetroot crisps too this year,any1 got a good recipe?
