i always feel like the pied piper when i go outside, my flock of 40 chickens and one duck follow me everywhere, convinced i will feed them! a few hold outs insist on perching on top of the pen at night, but i have been running them off and herding them into the pen nightly, so they now jump off and ...

they will quit laying when a change occurs, for how long, is anyone's guess, some hens get moody and wont lay for weeks, others hardly seem to notice and go right on laying fine!

do give up the idea of ANY landscaping with free range hens...they love raking pine straw, rolling in newly tilled areas and fresh young tender plant shoots!, mine are real fond of petunias! 2 strands of electric wire does keep them out of the garden tho!

had to catch 3 grown sheep in a large paddock, never been handled, they almost died of exhaustion...never realized they had tiny lungs...

my bad luck is always too many boys, not enough girls...cant bring myself to slaughter the boys, so they go off to a friends house when they mature

I use it in the hen nest boxes, over the asparagus plants to winter or around fruit trees to hold in moisture...but usually the horses just quickly eat it!
