Re: Help! Invasion of small white millipede things! Any idea
They are spotted snake millipedes. I'm on my phone so I'm struggling to search for how to get rid of them. But they will go straight for root veg and such, particularly during droughts.

Use by dates
Quick question. I made some nettle and ginger wine yesterday, but didn't notice until after that the wine yeast was past the use by date of September last year. Can it be saved or should i just throw it all out?
It doesn't seem to be doing much.

Re: Where are???
Weather, blight, and the big slug battle sapped a lot of my enthusiasm. Also my inability to get on with much with Dexter. This year is minimal planting, but lots of digging and tidying ready for next year. I am excited about the next year though. Starting to attend local HE stuff and won't be long ...

Re: Home ed or not?
It is an opportunity to learn. I can't speak for all schools, but both my girls ended up making new friends every year from nursery to year 4, because the friends they made ended up in a different class from them the year after. Kids adjust pretty quickly. New kids start every year, being the new ki...

You know there has never been a study that proves saturated fat causes heart disease.
I'm with herbalholly, up your good fats and cut out the processed stuff. Take a few more walks.

Re: Home ed or not?
My eldest are both going through the school system. But we do extra 'lessons' at home as the school is rubbish. Although the extra learning at home is more due to their passion for learning. Youngest, who's 2 and a half, will be home educated. Although, if I said that in my local HE group on FB, I'd...

So glad this wasn't my first year growing veg
Title pretty much says it all. Just pulled up the tomato plants thanks to most of them giving in to blight. Of all the things I've planted in the garden, we've got one healthy Brussels sprout plant left, I've had about 1lb of red tomatoes, a handful of potatoes, plenty of watercress, and spinach, an...

Our first broad bean. I don't know what took it so long, but it's only just producing pods. We only have the one plant as the eldest planted it at school.
Lots of toms, blackberries, spinach. Planting and potting on more than I'm harvesting.

Yes, that's absolutely fine to use for back carrying a toddler up to 16kg. There's plenty of videos over at YouTube to find the most suitable way to tie it for you and bubs.

My uncle was still going on long treks in his 80s. We had a patient we visited who was 100 and could balance on one leg longer than me. Fauja Singh started running when he was 89, runs ten miles a day and travelled over to Toronto to do the marathon there last year, he was 100. Meanwhile, I'm 32, co...

The youngest is going to be a home ed kid and the expenses when young aren't too bad. From November he'll be going to a group at the local museum, that's free. The local Home Ed folk arrange all sorts of things, from PE groups weekly, about £3 per child, soft play, and meet ups at local parks. They ...

That sounds like a good idea, probably a bit of a way for me to travel though I'll keep an eye out for where it is. The mushroom season may be a little early this year judging by the stinkhorn that's popped up around here last week.

Re: Men and Money!!!
We do have credit cards, very recently after both messing up with money in our younger years. My hubby was actually given a huge, ridiculous credit limit which he phoned up about and got reduced. If we're ever in a huge amount of poo because several bills come at once, we can't borrow more than we c...
