How to follow a crochet pattern
Hi, I have recently started to learn how to crochet. I have been looking through lots of free online patterns at allfreecrochet.com. I have downloaded a free ebook that contains different types of stitches and several patterns. So far I have been fairly successful and have managed to follow a hat pa...

Re: What Ishy things are you grateful for this week?

My OH has had to go to America on business for 3 weeks, and my friends are helping to keep me busy to keep my mind off missing him :grouphug: - I'm grateful that my veggie patch is growing. Its the first year we have planted anything, and t...

Re: new bug
Hi Paul, I hope you and your family are feeling better now. I have also done some reading into the EHEC bug and thought I would post a reply to help try and put it into context. It is due to a bacterial strian of E.coli 0157, which has been identified for some time now. There are many stains of E.co...

Re: Greetings from Somerset, England
Thanks for the offer of help David. We are currently in a little village between Bridgwater and Street, but will hopefully be moving to a village outside Wells in the Autumn, which has a much bigger garden and veg patch. Once we move I'll have more of a think about the bees. I've found the plans for...

Re: recycled plastic bottles
Thanks for the link - their greenhouse looks amazing! Its a really good idea for somewhere like a school where they would have access to a larger number of bottles. I've sent the link to my Uncle, who is a deputy head in a high school as an idea for a possible school project.

A natural waterproof mascara....?
Hi All, I have a quick question. I am on the look out for a natural waterproof mascara, but have not been able to find one. I have also spoken to my aunt (who knows a great deal about all things natural) and she isn't aware of any on the market, so I thought I'd see if anyone here knows of any. Curr...

Re: Fruits of our labor
Hi Chuck, It is great to be eating your own produce and enjoying it with friends! My OH and I are just starting out with growing our own veggies this year. Our main problem is that my job moves round very frequently (I move locations once a year at the end of August/early September) which makes grow...

Re: elderly mother fell down stairs
So sorry to hear about your Mum's fall. Im glad she is feeling a lot brighter now though. These injuries can often take a while to heal and varies from person to person. Its not just the time needed for the bones to heal, but also the time needed to regain her strength and confidence about going bac...

I'll try looking further on youtube for further ideas.
Chuck - how are your plants doing? In your videos they seem to be starting out - are they big enough yet to produce anything?

Re: What i'm brewing at the moment
I've been reading about rhubarb wine as Im planning on trying that next (its a new one for me). I came across one recipe that said that if made in May then by the time of the 1st racking its roughly the same time as blackberries should be in season and you can add blackberry juice to the rhubarb win...

Many thanks for the warm welcome! I have had great fun today between reading posts on the forum, making 8 gallons of dandelion wine and pottering about the garden.
I really must get on with some revision now
