The best strategy is to put some wire mesh under the bins. This will allow the worms in but prevent anything bigger. Second the comment about no meat and bones.

I use a 50/50 mix of wholemeal and malthouse which makes a lighter loaf. Also try adding a teaspoon of mixed herbs and some finely chopped sun dried tomatoes which is great toasted with scrambled egg on top.

I've always been a hippy at heart and used to have the long hair and beard to go with it. There is quite a lot of alternative stuff going on in Wiltshire these days. Here are a few examples. The Lamb in Devizes hosts both a Folk Club and Amnesty International meetings. I wash by hand and don't rinse but dry with a tea towel. I also use an eco washing up liquid.
If you look at the embodied energy of the dishwasher then hand washing has to be far more environmentally friendly.

I am fighting horsetail by painting glyphosphate with a brush rather than spraying. I also use 1 pint plastic milk containers with a hole in the lid to thread bindweed though. This works pretty well but I do have quite a few dotted around the garden.
