I'd have to say... mixed lettuce. I try to grow them all year round, in all different types/flavours/colors. We eat a lot of BIG salads (with goat cheese, nuts, bacon, whatever), and a nice bag of mixed greens will cost allmost 2 euros in our supermarket. For about 100 or 150 grams.

We feed the pigs the corn plants (and some corn), finely chopped and kept in plastic under a layer of sand. I am sorry, I do not know the English term.. Ensiled?
And we are going to grow a lot of wheat, beets, cabage, etc.

Ok! We have to drive too long to go to Amsterdam for a few items :) But last year we took a city trip and bought big bags of mung beans in a Chinese supermarket. It was on the Zeedijk, but not yet on the Nieuwmarkt... And there were windows ;)
So next time we will walk furter!

Yes, we sprout the mung beans a lot, so this year I want to sow them in the ground and collect the seeds.
I will try, the alfalfa and cress plants are no problem to grow. So we should have some seeds this winter ;)

We have:
- 3 goats (2 female, 1 male 'Uri')
- 2 and a half sheep (1 male 'Sock', 1 female 'Trui' (=sweater), and 1 boy-lam)
- a lot of chickens. Only a few have names. Such as Ozzy, Sharon, Ernie, Roosty.
- 4 Geeze (2 female, 2 male)
- 3 pigs (2 female, 1 male, all KuneKune)
