Woodburner finally in
Finally got the burner in! It took a lot longer than estimated (long story) but at least its up and running. Got loads of wood from Heritage people chopping down certain trees in local woods, plus been salvaging loads from jobs and work too. With solar panels dropping my leccy bills right down, this...

Bramble jelly
Just made a big batch of bramble jelly. Picked 6lb of brambles the other day and another 6 lb today. My absolute favourite.
On a negative side went to check on my marrows and my biggest one has been pinched from my allotment. Not good.

Re: Just ordered a wood burner.
Well I've got me a chainsaw! Gonna have the wood chopped, split and drying soon. Been told it's a good 6months before it's burnable but that's ok. Might need to buy my first lot of wood.

Dave. I think I made a boo boo! Cheers for that, looks like I've got a ton if driftwood for the chimnea instead!!!! I reckon I can still burn a lot of it mind, we were hit with localised flooding and a lot had only reached the beach within 24 hours of me collecting it. Google saltburn flooding. Real...

Re: Just ordered a wood burner.
25 year payback. Looking at 25k coming back to me for installing the panels plus bills cut by a third.
I'm hoping to at least half my gas bill with the woodburner, possibly by two thirds over winter. I live near woods so should have an inexhaustible supply.

Re: Just ordered a wood burner.
That was a good price tosca! Doofa- My 2.2KW system cost just under 6k (its cheaper now) and has dropped the electric bills by about a third. With a teenage son and daughter we tend to use the majority of electric on an evening which cant be helped i guess. On the plus side, although our electric bi...

Re: What are you reading?
OKay, well I have just finished "The 100year Old Man who climbed out of a Window and Disappeared". NOT a literary read but amusing and sort of enlightening / revising about world events. And it only cost me 20p to download on my Kindle. Not sure what next read will be but want a book this...

hen muck on garden
Ive an inexhaustable supply of hen muck courtesy of my chucks. Do any serious gardeners know which sectiion of the garden i should put it on ie potato, onion section etc. I realise its strong stuff, it just seems a shame not to put it on the garden.
Thanks in advance

Ive had this too, but found which one was the culprit and necked it. Once they start egg eating i dont believe that they stop.
