Re: Guaranteed to make you feel better about your house...
Bonnie, a reasonably cheap solution might be a dehumidifier, run only when necessary. Worth a thought. When we've used one in the past, the water is saved for use in the electric iron!

Copy the image address (control-click the image for a menu on a Mac) and put it between "img" tags.
The only problem is, your image is too big!

Re: It's a Bit Windy Here
It seems that we have had almost continuous windy weather for months now, it's about time it went and bothered somewhere else for a change. + concur Actually, it's not been quite as bad as you say where we are, wind-wise. We do get the occasional calm day, sorry, hour. What we seem to...

Re: greenhouse heating
I have been growing lettuce a few peas in my tunnel by using half of one raised bed in the centre of the tunnel and using wire hoops covered with clear plastic. In the centre of of the bed. I used a very cheap paraffin round flat heater about £17 the name of which escapes me, and above it sus...

Re: It's a Bit Windy Here
Yup, exciting here too in county Clare. No real damage, though an old cow shed we have won't stand much more of this. We lost the mirror which we use to help us get out of the driveway and a bird feeder got smashed up. The polytunnel is 100%. Oh, and the leccy just went off for a split second, while...

Re: Milk intolerance?
I don't use dairy products at all but SWMBO liked her milk. I bought her a milk maker (they're basically liquidiser and heating element sitting in a jug, but obviously there's a bit more to them than that) and she's converted, no problem. It's partially because you're more in control - you can make ...

Re: Sprouts!
I like them roast for 15 mins with ginger, then another 8 mins with garlic, then served with a bit of nutmeg but more often than not, they just get steamed. But the nutmeg is always there; lovely. A very hot roast (so they get a bit blackened) with cashews and a splash of soy sauce towards the end i...

AFAIK, no plant foods contain cholesterol, so a vegan diet combined with daily exercise would be ideal.

I reckon ravens. They're really intelligent creatures.
Mind you, intelligence hasn't really been an evolutionary success, has it?
