In the absence of a rooster, we're letting the Thug out of the run and shutting her out whilst the youngsters grow a bit in size & confidence and see how it goes after a couple of weeks.

I've got a 4 bird Eglu which currently houses 2 birds (since this morning when Mrs Brown had to be put out of her misery :( ) I'm thinking about adding 2 more birds (I know from bitter experience that adding one is a no no) Does anyone have experience of this situation or advice as to how to make it...

Thank you all for your advice I guess that with such a small 'flock', the law of averages says that next winter we may have all 3 on strike. Still, I always thought a surplus of eggs was a Spring thing and was a bit surprised when we carried the surplus through all Winter. Seasonality is no bad thin...

Too true - if you're like me and hate throwing seed away and so feel compelled to grow the same variety for years as a result of a big packet of seed, try moreveg. Sensible sized packets at a sensible price imho
