Re: Help with my rhubarb wine please

I have never had much of an issue with sluggish fermentation.. excessive ones without doubt! I do end up with highly a...

Re: Real Ginger Beer Plant

I would be very very keen to get a ginger beer plant.. I have made a couple of batches of alcoholic ginger beer which is pretty good but nothing like the jelly stuff has remained in the bottom of the FV which is what I thought I should use to get a plant going....

I have done the hot water method on rhubard without issue but I have left it in a bucket for at least a week and lifted out the bits. 5lb of sugar is a bit mental and toast.... well I dunno what to say about that, never heard of it...

Re: Fruit Tea Bag Wine

depending on the yeast, most yeast will die off when you reach a certain alcohol level anyway. as MKG says the wine will be sweet, but what you can do is make some more with less sugar and make a blend. Get some yeast nutrient to help the yeast along too. it may well be that one will be to dry and o...

Re: Campden tablets

Sodium meta bisulphite is one of the cheapest ways to do things, it gives things that extra touch of sterility and as mentioned before it can be used to arrest yeast activity after racking to make a more stable medium for the wine (it can undergo secondary reactions many weeks after bottling). If yo...

I would have to agree with wulf, , biggest concerns will be keeping the bugger cool enough when the temp gets up. The victorians used to use fresh manure underneath the soil as the rotting of the doings toasted it up a treat.... make make things a little whiffy though!!
