Re: Fabric off cuts

Next time you have some to get rid of, let me know as I travel up and down to London on a regular basis (my daughter lives there) and could take some off your hands.

Re: Hello from Durham, England

Hello all. It appears I havent been on here for about a year! And there has been little or no progress since I was last here, either. First of all, my mother died, which wasnt expected and therefore came as a complete shock. That event has also added to the clutter in our house, as I inherited all h...

Chicken feed

Is it possible to grow one's own grain for chickens? [I'm not talking about space or quantity here; just type and methods]. If so, what should be grown and how is it fed to them? Do you just give the whole grains to the chickens, or does it have to be milled first?

Re: Lost or survived the weather?

Re: home meade bread

Here's our fool proof recipe, but you must use exact measures. 1/2 pint 10floz warm water (use a pub1/2 pint glass if you can get one as measuring jugs aren't all that accurate. If not weigh the water) 2 level table spoons dry milk 2 tablespoons oil 1 level teaspoon salt (again beware of measuring ...

Re: projects for 2010

PS Perhaps we could update this thread as we knock things off the list - might help to keep us on track and focused (well, it would me anyway) So, my first job is to replace one of the perimeter gates, which means measuring the gap planning the wood needed buying the wood building the gate installin...

Re: projects for 2010

Well we have 101 things to do here. The plan is over the next 4 years to completely renovate the house so we can move - sooner if we can manage it. So that means: Outside - change window in dining room for french doors rebuild falling down conservatory (need to do the dining room window before we ca...

Re: Hello from Durham, England

Welcome Ruth. I've only been to Durham once and thought it was a beautiful place, lovely countryside too. Do you live in a rural spot and where is your dream location - nosy beggar aren't I  No more nosey than I would be! Dream place would be Yorkshire Dales, preferably Swaledale, but Wensley...

Hello from Durham, England

Hi all, Just dropping in to introduce myself. I live in County Durham in NE England where we still even have some snow at present. I have a fairly big house, but the children have all flown the nest now, so just me and DH. I have been trying to downshift because while I seem to ahve the ideal job (h...
