Use of cat litter
Can you add used cat litter of the wood pellet biodegradable variety, once poo removed of course, on your compost heap ? In small doses. I did contemplate scattering it as a possible mouse deterrent round my vulnerable bean and pea patch, but a bit worried about side effects on plants themselves.......

mice on allotments
Has anybody any tips on how to deter mice from eating our beans and peas ? They seem to wait patiently untill the young plants are about two inches high, and then dig down (very neatly) to remove the remains of the bean - usually leaving the dying plant behind, but sometimes removing those too.
