Sourdough starter Scotland

Does any kind person have a nice sourdough starter that they might spare some of for me to get going? I've tried starting my own a couple of times without success (and I'm going to have another go at starting one off today - but thought I would see if I could get a backup plan ready!) Thanks, Richard

Re: Wind turbines and 3-phase power

Hi MKG thanks for your reply. We live in a farmhouse which has 2 outbuildings attached to it. To my highly untrained eye our board looks "normal" so like you I think the chances of there being 3-phase are nil.

Wind turbines and 3-phase power

Hi all, Hoping someone will be able to help me with a bit of confusion. I have been looking into wind turbines in a fairly unfocussed way. We seem to have a pretty ideal site with good predicted wind speed (although I would plan to put up an anemometer for a while before taking the plunge). One inst...

Ground Source heating systems - working for you?

Hi all, We are having a fairly extensive kitchen renovation done and as part of the project I have been working towards installing ground source heating (working of a shallow pipe rather than a bore hole). I have had the renewables man from the energy saving trust round (who should be impartial...) ...

Re: Moving to smallholding soon

Well, I thought I would post here because I feel pretty much like a newcomer - it's been that long since I was here last. Hard to believe it's coming up on 2 years since I posted for the first time and we were moving in. Have to say, my estimate of achieving 10% of my ambitions was a little over-opt...

Trees for Scottish Site

Hi all, We have 3 acres of field around our farmhouse which is in Central Scotland at an elevation of approx 180m. Some lower parts of the fields are fairly poorly drained (lots of reeds and boggy at times). Although at the moment I've forgotten how windy it can be (we've had a long period of still ...

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OGw2POiBj7I/SmonMmCyMnI/AAAAAAAAAdk/4d0w-nyd8j0/s320/102_2294.JPG So we got the keys today and in an enormously excitable mood went over there to get to know our new place. We're not moving furniture till next week. The veggie patch is overgrown with weeds so I thought I'd...

Re: Chicken vet

Hi Mary, just a quick message from another vet to wish you luck with your new venture. It's a daunting decision to set up on your own so hope it goes very well. Amanda (another vet) and I are moving to a smallholding nr Falkirk in the next month so we may well call upon your expertise as we are both...

Re: How do I loose my beer belly

Hey Andy, Great to see a complete lack of wacky diet tips in the replies here! I have tried reducing how much I eat and I can't do it - love my food too much. Get hungry so quickly and any kind of "diet-ing" makes me so focussed on food that I end up eating more I think. I signed up to do ...

Moving to smallholding soon

Hi all, My wife and I will be moving to a place near Falkirk in Scotland in the next month. It's got about 3 acres of land and some nice outbuildings. I've got loads of plans (of which I'm sure about 10% will come to fruition!) and really, really looking forward to the adventure. I'd love to make co...
