Re: 101 professions for a self-sufficientish, thinking perso
I used to be a new media designer (websites, CD Roms etc.) At thirty superficially doing very well, impressing parents etc. I decided I didn't want to spend another week in an office let alone another 35 years. I became a house dad, grew veg and a beard, did an MA and restored a couple of properties...

Re: How do I loose my beer belly
run about 2.5 miles every day. I'm a 40 year old with moobs. I've been doing it for 4 weeks and have gone down two belt buckles and 'probably' a bra size or two after being told to exercise by my doc. All this while continuing to eat steak and drink a couple of pints a day. It only takes 30 minutes ...

Re: ...start?

The only thing left for me to conisder is how I can make use of a .5 acre field with a stream that often overflows in winter. I...

Re: ...start?
i've just discovered that there might be a bit of a flooding problem with water from the nearby stream regularly reaching the house in winter. I'm having to decide to go for it and try to think of a solution like a wall around the house or cry and walk away.

I can see a lot of opportunities in the town to sell to cafe's etc. I expect I could find out what they would want to buy and grow it.

hi I just had an offer accepted on a house with 1.7 acres in buckinghamshire. I'm thinking chickens, veg plot, orchard, widn turbine etc. etc. So far my experience constitutes a moderately successful allotment/greenhouse etc. brewing beer and a couple of homemade sheds. perhaps there are some good D...

Re: buy a field?
hmmm.lots to think about I think there was a bit of a misunderstanding though. I wasn't thinking of living on the land iwas just thinking of living off it. A property on 1 acre is going to cost pretty penny in buckinghamshire but a little house in my local town, an economical car with trailer and a ...

buy a field?
Can I say in advance I can guess that the question has probably already been asked on this massive forum but I haven't got 3 weeks to search for it. I want to buy a little house with an acre here in buckinghamshire but I haven't got enough money. So I thought I'd buy a field instead. However it's no...
