Re: Hi from Liverpool

Welcome from round the corner in Wigan.

I come to a spiritual meeting in Liverpool once a month though.

My heart lifts every time I see the waterfront with the Liver building - its an amazing city and Liverpudlians have the best sense of humour in the world

Re: Hi to all, Im a newbie, help?!

Hi totallypotty

I have a few friends who live in Burnley and go to Padiham quite a lot- Thanks to the M65 its only half an hour away now.

I was born in nearby Blackburn but I live over in Standish near Wigan now.

Do you ever go down to Oswaldtwistle Mill?

I miss the hills but not the grey skies and the cold winds in Winter.......................... its flatter and gentler here. It was interesting to hear about the farmers mark...

Re: Hi I'm from Wiltshire

The names of those villages sound so romantic and I imagine an old fashoned english way of life - not quite the same as up here in lancashire with villages like Billinge !!!

Although theres nothing wrong with the place - sounds a bit like a stomach upset!!

Re: Soap Nuts - tried and tested - and verdicts?

Yes sheila They are excellent for hand washing clothes. I would you suggest that you swish half a dozen soapnuts round in some warm water for a while, then remove them and use the soapy water thats left. This prevents any bits of nuts getting in the clothes. If you decide to use them in a washing ma...

Re: Hi from Yorkshire

I loved having hens and they ranged free in my garden but always lay their eggs in their little shed or the rabbit hutch when the rabbit was out! I was left eventually with 1 very tame one - betsy hen. she`d sit on my knee if I was outside and peck at my ice lolly or a sandwich we could stroke her a...

After the last 2 weeks up here, they would be almost millionaires!!

They come when they re ready to come (maybe when the time is right astrologically) and it all seems a long time ago now I`m a grandma!!

Re: Banish Plastic

If you go for degradeable rather than biodegradeablke (which needs sunlight to break the compounds down) then you find that they disintegrate within 18 months/ 2 years.

They are better for landfill sites as once the rubbish is buried obviously no sunlight reaches them

Hope this helps
