Re: Culling our pigs

it's such a shame coz people like that are worse (IMO) than T***os for shutting down small local farms. I am sorry you had to put up with them. I think people are so focused on "I want" now that the don't see all the bits they are missing out on coz it doesn't tick their box of wants. I re...

Help needed with sad fruit plants

Hiya, I found some little fruit plants (Goji Berry, Blueberry, Gooseberry etc) at Lidl... only £1.99 each, but they obviously have been neglected as i had to dig through to find some that were still alive. So my very small and sad plants are currently sat in the kitchen sink having a drink, but what...

Re: Culling our pigs

I am sorry, the majority of the population seem to want everything cheap and fast... and flavourless! It frustrates me because I love real food (you know that stuff with actual flavour like it was when gran was young) but find it damn near impossible to get... yes cost is always going to be a factor...

Re: wooden toys

*gets on soap box* It does annoy me that kids these days need to be entertained! I would have loved all these wooden toys as a kid coz I had imagination!! And some of the stuff Paul makes is gorgeous (as is a lot of the stuff mentioned in this thread - LOVE the rocking duck) but even his own child h...

wooden toys

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, but... a friend of mine has recently started making wooden "things" on a wood lathe (sp?) and wants to start selling things as a part time/hobby business. After a bit of discussion we worked out that most adults spend most of the...

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?

Just to reply to the "education" thing, when I was at school (back when school were steam powered!! - 25 years ago) we did a term on how babies were made. I was about 7, we made models of the various stages of development before birth, learnt when hearing developed, how and when sex was de...

Re: Advice pls, am I being difficult

^^ Oh I wish I could do that!! SS will only eat about 7 different "home cooked" meals and my OH will only eat it if there is loads of meat! So I end up cooking 2 different meals every night and usually the one we have has variations for me (ie side salad, less meat, more veg etc) If I ever...

Re: Advice pls, am I being difficult

I think it's human nature to want the things you don't have. I bet if you always had "white sliced" bread he'd get excited over home made or bakery bread. I know I miss the "junk" from my diet... but after I cave in and buy, for example, a ready meal I always regret eating it cau...

Re: Bl**dy neighbours and access to property

I am still trying to find out who "owns" the path, my main issue is the aggressive manner in which they have approched the problem, I am not inconsiderate and try to get on with my neighbours as a general rule, however their argument is that it is a footpath (despite the fact the council d...

Re: Bl**dy neighbours and access to property

Thanks, I was considering making a public arrest for abusive behaviour and indecent exposure!... apparently I can restrain her so long as I don't use undue force... sadly I can't wave, smile and go on my way as they have blocked my way... and to get past I would have to go over the said neigh...

Bl**dy neighbours and access to property

Hi Isher's This is a half rant - half plea for advice Does anyone know anything about access/right of way to your own property? The problem I have is that I live on an alleyway, it comprises of two parts, the part up to our house from one end is wide enough to get a car down (just!) and about 3 of o...

Re: Hand Sewing Patchwork

*Laughs* No one ever says about taking the paper bits out... It took me a long while to work out that they must be removed... But I've never owned anything patchwork so I blame my ignorance on that - I'm self taught in all "handicrafts" mainly by taking apart/studying things and trying to ...

Re: Hand Sewing Patchwork

Wow - you all make it sound to easy!! Why the paper/card shapes tho (or am I just being dim)?

And I do like that skirt - I have a similar picture that I always wanted to reproduce but that was made of bigger bits (like whole sleeves) of shirts :-)
