Re: Promoting Healing.

Have a nice warm bath with a few pinchs of sea salt put into it (about three pinches should be enough). Apparently the salt helps the muscles relax. Iv had a twisted quad muscle for some time, it helps a great deal. Also the old RICE - rest, incapacitate, compress and exercise always works. The comp...

Re: Tea Bags

I have heard if your going to use teabags for plants then its better not to have milk on them, but I havent tested that. Tea leaves can be scattered round plant pots like a furtilser, also cold tea (without milk) can be put on them as well (NB old fish tank water is good too). Tea bags can be used f...

Re: old tyre recycle ideas anyone

Iv seen them used for growing potatoes, just stack them up like you would earth - I think it was Gardeners World or something like it. One of Ray Mears shows, he cuts strips of inner tyre to make good tinder/starters for the fire kit. On Grand Designs this guy made a whole house out of tyres, it was...

Re: ........ plastic 4 pint milk bottles

Fill with water and use as training weights. Fill with water turn upside down and plant in your huge pots to water in the summer. I admit lemonade bottles are better. Cut in half and use when your cleaning out the car oil. Put in cold used oil to take down the recycling dump. Give to the dog, mine l...

Re: A Farm for the Future

Iv just seen it and put it on the TV thread, sorry Im very new here. I thought it was pretty good, but then Im no gardener or farmer. I loved the woodland bit. As all plants, in my opinion, come from a natural setting in the wild, I would say you just have to redo those conditions. I guess its going...

Natural World Episode with Rebecca Hoskings

Just watched the Natural World with Rebecca Hoskings. It is a must see for anyone into preping and self suffiency. Its all about how much fossil fuel is used on an UK farm and how by 2013 they estimate that these forms of fuel will be getting low. They recommend ways to farm not using the fuels and ...

Re: 101 alternatives to rice and pasta and how to cook them.

Quinoa is good and you can get it from most health food shops and Asda. You boil one cup or mug of water until it boils, then add about 3/4 a cup of flaked Quinoa and stur it until it becomes like a thick porridge. (see packet for details or the Quinoa website for loads of recipes). I think its Glut...

Re: 101 ways to lose a few pounds before Christmas

Iv been five stone over weight and one stone under so heres my tips: Make a committed decision to become fit and healthy (have leverage) and know what that means (source Anthony Robbins). Know that it isn't at all about the food, but why you eat, journal all those stuck emotions. The more confident ...
