If it's not slugs, what could be eating my veg?

I can't see an evidence of slugs around the planters and I've even run some old cooper pipe around the tops.

Anyone know what could have eaten most of my carrots and courgettes

The chickens have arrived... 3 hens collected on Saturday from an amazing place just outside of Mintey.
