Re: breeding chickens?

thanks for the replies, yes they are a cross between black rock and rhode island red.

i did wonder if they might be a bit on the small side, so size really does count then hehe

i dont plan to have an incubator, just really to let nature take its course. is that how you breed yours?

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?

I am a breastfeeding mother, my youngest is 7 months and I always feed him wherever and whenever he needs fed. I do try to be discreet about it for my sake, not for others, I wouldn't walk around topless for all to see so why would I get them out in full view when I'm feeding. It really shouldn't be...

breeding chickens?

I've had black rocks for over a year now and considering starting breeding for the table.

My question is can I chose any breed?

Been offered a Black Silkie that I could get this week, would that be ok to breed with Black Rocks? :dontknow:

Any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated

Re: Emotional support needed!!

:hugish: At the risk of being unpopular, I've always held the belief that if I found out hubby had wandered, I would think long & hard about throwing my life with him away..... if it was a full blown affair, then ok, out the door I go - but a one-off? No. I could cope with a one-off - oh, I woul...

Re: French Onion Soup

My recipe is slightly different but its just as good, the worcestershire sauce gives it a nice tang 4 medium sized onions 2 tablespoons of margarine or butter. Alternatively 5 tablespoons of Olive Oil - 4½ cups of veg boullion 1 oxo cube 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, double if you like this ...

Re: IBS? (tmi in places)

another IBS sufferer here too. the food diary idea is a fab one cause what triggers for one wont trigger for all. mine are too much red meat, greasy food, diary and stress. if i can keep that to a minimum mine is now bareable, but while i was working it out the antispasmodics were a godsend. i've li...

Re: moody hen?

I've been a bit firm with her and she seems to have settled down a bit, she's a good layer, they both are, so I'm a bit reluctant to get rid of her unless I really have too. I'll just be extra wary when the kids are about to make sure she doesn't go near them

I tended to put my daughter in the pushchair under a tree for shade and so she could watch the leaves. kept her happy for a little longer than usual, and singing songs and talking to her helped too. ds is 2 and a half and tries to help by digging up what a plant :angryfire: any tips about that would...
