Re: Les grenouilles
We've got loads of frog spawn in our pond too! Yay! Spotted one of the parents on the pond floor at one point too :) I love seeing the wildlife in the garden, I think we did have a couple of newts in there too but they're so hard to see, too good at hiding!

Re: CATS!
We had a similar problem, though with our own cat! Obviously needed a cat-friendly solution, we tried a few things like the crystal repellents but we found this repeller worked best: http://www.amazon.co.uk/PestBye-Battery-Operated-Cat-Repeller/dp/B004SGC75S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332174650&...

Re: Useful house plants ?
How about a cheese plant? My sister and brother in law had one that lasted years and I don't think they had to do much to maintain it, just tried to remember to water it occasionally! I've been growing some Bird of Paradise plants - I've grown them from seed, but you don't have to, you can just buy ...

Re: Help needed with snail and slug control please!
You could try this slug deterrent - I got it because all I could find to buy were slug killers and poisons which I didn't want to use and other natural methods that I tried didn't work. Basically, it's granite shards, so not pellets which is good and this is cheap and safe for animals and kids. This...

Re: Fox digging up the beds
You could get a electronic fox repeller, it's not strictly self sufficient as it's battery powered, but you can also get a mains adapter - I reckon it wouldn't use much electricity as the batteries last for quite a while, so it could easily be powered by a wind turbine or solar panel. It basically s...

Re: growing veg in a front garden
I'm in a flat at the moment and have no lawn, just a patio which I've stuffed full of pots! I'm dead jealous of people with real gardens, however small!!! Make the most of it and grow some veg I say, even if it gets nicked someone is benefiting - who benefits from a lawn (unless it's big enough for ...

Re: Cyclists against the world!
I live in Reading and although there are some cycle paths around, there is nothing like a complete network, and they stop and start randomly - it doesn't work! I cycle to and from work, I stop at traffic lights and obey the rules of the road (it infuriates me when other cyclists just cycle straight ...
