Re: VITAMIN K injection

I love debates too..... I don't agree that the best place to get an infection is hospital. I'd vote for GP waiting room (cough, sniff, spew). Or farm. Or crappy restaurant. Or primary school. Also, as you say, these bacteria aren't new...it's just that we're better at detecting them now and less lik...

Re: VITAMIN K injection

Wow! What a great thread, lots of interesting points raised here.... As for Vitamin K, in my experience the NHS don't give expensive things away without a pretty compelling reason, namely clinical trials reporting lower mortality among babies offered vit K shortly after birth. Especially babies who ...

pumpkins/squashes

Hello.... I wondered if anyone had any suggestions which types of pumpkins/squashes I might try this year. I had zero success with my butternut/mammoth varieties last year. I have a clay soil, windy ++ site but plenty of space... Have worked in lots of manure over the last couple months but still a ...

Re: Late walking baby.....

Ha! classic. I'm ashamed to say I caught myself saying to my DH today (in a self pitying way) 'but why can't she be like the other babies?' . I have officially lost my mind. I have to say in my defence that I really don't want her to be like anyone but her. I just need to remind myself of that. But ...

Re: Late walking baby.....

Yes, I think I'm coming to exactly that conclusion. She's a happy camper so we'll leave her to it and see what happens. Also, she may have to learn how to walk soon as she's 26 lbs and I don't have bionic arms. Helpfully she's developed a morbid phobia of the papoose and pushchair, preferring to be ...

Re: Late walking baby.....

Well, I think I looked a complete numptie when the HV started on about tummy time at her 8 month check..suggesting I make at least half an hour a day to help her exercise her muscles....made me wonder how any babies learn to walk in cultures where women return to normal life straight after the birth...

Re: Late walking baby.....

Oh thanks guys, that was just what I needed to hear. She does weight bear if I stand her on my lap and she'll pull up to kneeling to reach things off the sofa, but she's just not persistent...if she can't easily reach what she wants, she'll just go for something different. Ha! I think it's such a sh...

Late walking baby.....

Hello, just looking for advice and reassurance. I've got a gorgeous 16 month old daughter who shows no interest in walking. She's only recently started crawling in fact. Now, I wasn't too worried about this as I tend to adopt a laid back parenting style and want her to develop at her own pace and fo...

toddler nappies?

Hello everyone... am hoping for some nappy advice really. Have a 15 month old daughter and we used bambio mio reusable nappies until recently when they kept digging into into her legs, making them really sore. Plus we could never get her trousers up cos they were so bulky!! We're currently using dis...

Re: We try will ID your mushrooms here

Hello....I'm new to this site and found it while trying to find out about some mushrooms growing in my garden. I'm dying of curiosity and would love help working out what they are. I've looked at Rogers mushrooms online but as a total novice am getting a bit confused. Hopefully my photos are underne...
