If I had more than a little back garden and an allotment I'd give them a home straight away!
Really hope you're able to find them a good home.

I've heard soapnuts can be used for washing your hair. Not tried it myself but seems the most natural way besides going the no poo route!

Re: Adopting ex battery hens
That's really good to know, thanks Weedo.
We'll work out the issues around bringing the two flocks together as it happens. Thankfully we have two areas separated by a trellis fence so they can be apart but still in view of each other for a while.

Re: No plastic
Morrisons have finally replaced the thin plastic bags for loose fruit and veg with paper bags. They also seem to have more loose produce that isn't more expensive than the plastic wrapped, which definitely a step in the right direction.

Re: Adopting ex battery hens
Thanks for the advice GA & Odsox. Whenever we've brought in new girls (all from the same place) they've been kept separate until we were confident there wouldn't be too much trouble, which will happen this time too. I am hoping that our bolshie blackrock will look after the old girl, they've bot...

Adopting ex battery hens
Hey folks, I'm seriously contemplating adopting some ex battery hens but I've got a concern or two. Does anyone have any experience bringing ex-batts in to an established flock? Firstly I'm worried about any illness that might be introduced to my current girls. Secondly, I'm worried that my old girl...

Re: Chestnuts - how and when do I use them?
Our last foray in the van found us amongst dozens of chestnut trees and there were so many nuts on the ground you couldn't avoid stepping on them. Sadly we forgot to collect any before leaving so now I'm trying to get the other half to take us back there again!!

I was hoping to hear that! There is so much couch, it'd take a bit too long now!
Cheers Flo, next year will be a completely different story so anything is better than nothing right now

Planting Autumn garlic
Hi folks  My old allotment plot was a very sunny site, whereas my new plot, or at least half of it is mostly shaded. The other half has plenty of sun during the summer but I've noticed it's in the shade for much of the day now. Now then. I started digging a patch for my garlic then realised it...

They are both look stunning but I realise you're not growing them based on looks! Hope it matures nicely and you can make something of them
