As for sowing parsnips now, aren't they supposed to go in the ground whilst there is still cold weather i.e. March/April in order to germinate? Hi I doubt if you will get any fruit at this late stage in the year as the plants need a lot of sun to grow well. Try to get your children to do this again in March and plant the seedlings out after the risk of frost. They will do better in a greenhouse in the UK. The other thing to remember is that...

They're a bog-standard variety (Musselburg) would they form mini-leeks if I were to plant them close together?
