Re: New Person Saying Hello

Hi Ascerti - welcome to Ish. Dreaming is a good place to start - and it doesn't end; I'm rather older than you and still dreaming. Is there maybe a way you could start coming closer to your dreams in a very little way - I'm thinking of container gardening or such like? That was always my minimum if ...

Also of note, I finally have a pineapple with roots.
That's something I did on purpose, and have tried before and failed.
Congratulations! I've tried that a couple of times, without success.

Yeah, birds got most of my (very few) cherries, too. But I left the red currant uncovered this year for the birds - I can't use them all anyway.

Re: How to grow an Avocado tree

I've had a few on the compost heap, too! But then, lacking a poly tunnel (or sufficient sunshine), it never came to much.

I'm not keen on tomatoes, but I could just do with a glut of plums... Or at least a few for daily eating!

What the cows, sheep and goats????
Er, no - not them, either.

I remember when I was in France, we gave huge ex-courgettes to our house cow - she loved them. Was really uplifting to see her take big chunks out of them.

Re: The effect of having to lose weight

Gosh these people who are good with a needle! Ina I'm of the class who can sew on a button and mend a worn out pocket but not a lot more than that. Never really learned any sewing skills and the husband that was used to be good with the sewing stuff so never any need. I'm not saying it looked terri...

Cows, sheep and goats love them, too - and you don't need to cook them!

Re: The effect of having to lose weight

Over the decades, I never threw out what became too small... So I still have a wardrobe full of stuff that'll do me if I ever lose as much as I should! Some trousers can quite easily be taken down a size or two - used to do that when I was younger and losing weight was much easier.

 Envy!!!

I love apricots, but the ones in the shops have no scent (and therefore no flavour) at all.

Re: RAIN !!

We've had some - more like 2mm rather than 2", though... More forecast - we even have a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms for today!
And now I have a different problem - how will I get the washing dry this weekend?

(Got to have something to complain about!)

It works with schnapps too
I'm sure it does. But, actually - all those things had been more expensive here compared to Germany all the time - but now, since the introduction of minimum price for booze, it's just far, far too expensive... :?

Hmm - courgettes anyone?
Mine got out too late - same with the squash - just now I have a few small ones coming on...
