ANNPAN ....THE CTRL KEY WITH PLUS AND MINUS DOSN`T WORK ELLENDRA........WHEN I CHANGE THE TEXT SIZE IT REVERTS TO THE SMALL LETTERS WHEN I EDIT OR WRITE.THE SCROLL WHEEL DOESN`T WORK ON MY COMPUTER. CORDWOODGUY PS:THANKS FOR THE HELP,I PLAN TO BUY A BIGGER MONITOR NEXT TIME I UPGRADE.

THE COMMENTS ABOUT THE LIME MORTAR ARE TRUE...IT BREATHS BETTER THAN A TOTAL CEMENT MORTAR.

TABLET.......SOME WOOD SPLITTERS CAN WORK FORWARD AND REVERSE.AS YOU SPLIT ONE GOING FORWARD,YOU FEED THE OTHER END AND THEN AS YOU BACK OFF THE FIRST LOG.YOU START SPLITTING THE SECOND.DUAL ACTION MAKES IT SOME WHAT FASTER.

Don't know anything about these guys , but I just found them on Google, and they may give you a few ideas. Conventionally, in UK newbuild, the cavity would be filled with rockwool or glassfibre batts. I guess this would be fairly inert stuff environmentally, though it is made by a heat process, so ...

I'm planning on building with cob, partly because I can dig the clay from my own land and build the house for really cheap, but mainly because I want to build the house myself and don't have the strength for most other building techniques. NIKKI......I`D GO WITH ICYNENE INSULATION IF ITS AVAILABLE.I JUST READ ABOUT ANOTHER INSULATION CALLED AIR-KRETE WHICH SEEMS QUITE GOOD.

THE ICYNENE IS RECOMMENDED BY THE LUNG ASSOCIATION, SO YOU PROBABLY WILL NOT FIND ANYTHING GREENER.
