Re: My courgette thread =D
Mal - the bees in our garden (bumble variety) adore yellow flowers be it tomatoes, courgettes or non veg flowers!

Re: HELP - what can I plant now?
Save your eggs shells - crush them and sprinkle around the base of the beetroots (or anything snails attack).
They don't like crawling over the sharp edges..

Re: My courgette thread =D
Also - another thing I find helps. When its been fruiting for a couple of months I trim the leaves off nearest to the base (about 5 of them). You may notice they are large 'tubes' which contain quite a bit of water which would be better going to the tips of the plant... courgettes needs lots of wate...

Re: My courgette thread =D
I find it easier to hand polllinate... I get one or two bees in the greenhouses if I leave the doors open (mostly going for the borage I keep in there for that reason!) but hand pollinate and have loads of success. I have 9 plants in the greenhouse and this year I also have two outside to see if the...

Re: My courgette thread =D
Yes, I get the same thing - the female flowers that don't get pollinated rot and have to be removed. Took me a while to learn this! I have all my courgettes in the greenhouse so have to hand pollinate... Have large yellow, small yellow and large green this year. The green ones aren't so good this ye...

Re: Onion assistance and seriously stinky comfry fertilizer!
Incidently for those interested - one of the onions had sort of 'started again' and there was a strong green tall shoot, so I left it there when I harvested the others... a couple of the ones I picked also had these.... now does this mean they are now sets? Do I plant these out? Is the one I left in...

Re: Will my pepper stay this colour?
This year I have red pimentoes, green peppers and (wonderfully) purple peppers.
Not sure if you mean peppers or chillies but either way it is very odd to only have one pepper on the plant. Such a disappointment for you I'm sure!
Keep trying - are they kept in a greenhouse, by the way?

Its a bit typical but I have to say cats.
I love the garden, sleeping, I'm rather unsociable, am very clean and I think cream is THE best product in the world.
