Re: Life with no kitchen

Tiling done - signs of workmen in the area but they have disappeared off to do other things in other places in the next three bungalows. I suspect that they can't go any further today as the plaster isn't quite dry enough. Of course I went out leaving the tiler working so have no real idea. Meantime...

Re: What are you harvesting now?

Dwarf beans, cabbage, kale, last of the peas, early cooking apples, pears, last of the butternut squash gone now (all the squash finished early), carrots and tomatoes, peppers, aubergines from the greenhouse
Sudden week of cold nights have bought an early end to some crops.

Re: Life with no kitchen

Think that we are a bit beyond that here Weedo. It's shabby in places at present but I'm told it will all come right in the end. Sounds as if your friend found a right set of incompetents (English traded up so that the Mods don't get offended). Anyway I'm told that the tiler can level up the sockets...

Re: Life with no kitchen

Methinks that your electrical fitters came out of the same box as the ones here Maggie. There's the string on the extractor fan. It can go to the right or the left of the cupboard below it but not straight down. They have left the ceiling fitting of an old alarm system which had pull strings. Nowada...

Re: Life with no kitchen

have just been taught something new. The new fuse box has two trip switches not one. So you can lose half the house power and not the other half. Now I know that, no problem. No need to call out the emergency electrician from social housing again. Well for that anyway. Trouble is that the cupboards ...

Chuckled at the title. On another forum the cellar is where the moderators go to confer upon suspicious posters - over tea and biscuits of course.

Re: Life with no kitchen

 Weedo this is a social housing (provision for the poor) bungalow for older people in a line in a street on the way to the cemetery in a polite English village with one street in a conservation area going through the middle. The back garden is small and backs on to other family houses. You'd ca...

Re: Life with no kitchen

Nor me either. Steps ain't my thing cos I have little stumpy feet with very short toes. It's been a standing joke all my life about my little toes. Mother said they ran out of plasticine before they finished making me. Buying shoes that fit has been the bane of my life. Any old how, the plasterers h...

Re: Life with no kitchen

Ah yes the fuse box. Do you think that I should get something bigger than the 3 step model? Probably. Today I went out to see the new allotment gate started off. Left two big blokes working hard. I'll check with it tomorrow after Chat club (hot tea and biscuits there at least and just round the corn...

Gosh you have been gone some time and not at all for all good reasons. Rheumatoid Arthritis is a difficult one isn't it? It's good to see that you are still managing to get out on the self sufficient track. Don't wear that hip out too fast man though.

Re: Life with no kitchen

Yesterday was the real crunch day when the gas board man came to move the meter to its new site on an outer wall - well dug the hole to find the gas mains and fitted the box, the next gas man came to fit the meter into the new site and the social housing gas fitter came to pipe it back into the in h...
